The State of Public Libraries Today

http://lisnews.org/why_closing_more_public_libraries_might_be_best_thing_%E2%80%A6right_now

LISNews published a really intriguing article about the state of the profession, and the state of public libraries in general.  First, the article argues that the profession suffers when librarians fail to advocate or are stuck in tradition.  Second, the focus of libraries can and should change in the future and this recession, with its library closings, can magnify which models work the best for libraries in general.

It is a really interesting read.
